5 Family Board Games That Will Make You Laugh Together

When is the last time your husband belly-laughed at the kitchen table?  Or your daughter erupted into a fit of giggles before bed?  And do you recall when your son snorted the milk right out of his nose last?

Has it been too long?

Funniest Family Board Games

There are board games that inspire serious thought and competition, and there are those that inspire fits of giggles and heal old wounds.  And both have their places.  But the latter are a foolproof way you can laugh together as a family.

Five Hilarious Family Games To Play Together

Pie Face

This game is as goofy as it sounds, and as fun!  Players take turns cranking the game, and eventually someone gets pied.  This is an effective way to diffuse anger or hurt feelings, and the perfect opportunity for parents to live out our 1990s pie-in-the-sky dreams of competing in Nickelodeon’s pie-in-the-face game shows.

Would You Rather?

If your kids are anything like mine (and, let’s be honest, me too!) you probably already play an unofficial version of this game from time to time.  You’ll be challenged to answer questions such as, “Would you rather lick the windshield of a big rig clean after a cross-country drive, or lick a poopsicle one time?”  Sometimes we skip the board entirely and just ask each other the questions.

Watch Ya’ Mouth

My sister bought this one last year to play at our mom’s house on Christmas Eve, and mama, I was a little skeptical when she opened the box.  One player wears a mouth guard and reads phrases off a cards, while the other players try to understand what that player is saying.  It’s gross and hilarious.  Your family will love this game, and if you grab an extra set of mouth guards they may even be willing to play after Grandpa’s turn.

Poopyhead Card Game

You may have to suspend the no name-calling rule to play this one.  If you don’t get rid of your cards in time, wear the poop headband as a literal butthead.  Or sound the whoopie cushion like a real stinker.  This potty talk game delights little brothers ans big sisters alike.

Telestrations

Imagine the hilarity of a game of telephone with your young kids.  But instead of whispering a phrase from one person to the next, you have to draw a picture, Pictionary-style, to get the point across.  That’s telestrations.  And it’s sure to leave even your non-readers in stitches!

Why You Need To Find The Time

Laughing together is a fantastic way to build your family’s bond, and to improve their health. And it’s also an awesome way to reduce the stress of living in a crazy scary world.  Playing one of these family board games that will make you laugh together is a simple solution.

Imagine your husband separated from his phone, email and sports scores for a full hour after dinner.  Your daughter’s smile as her family surrounds her in giggles and her mom and dad team up to guess her game clue.  Your toddler thrilled to see the people he loves together and happy.

What time can you free in your calendar to make room for a family game night?  Don’t wait for a playful moment together to happen, but choose a game and make it happen.
